The award was established in 1998 and is presented to individuals who exhibit historic and continual leadership in the civil rights arena.  Greg was honored primarily for his work on the $1.25 billion Black Farmers Discrimination Litigation settlement.

One of three lead class counsel in the settlement, Greg has been active on this case for more than four years and has never wavered in his defense of those impacted by the USDA’s discrimination.

Greg was honored alongside fellow lead counsel, Henry “Hank” Sanders and John W. Boyd Jr., president of the National Black Farmers Association.

The National Bar Association was founded in 1925 and is the nation’s oldest and largest national network of attorneys and judges. It represents approximately 44,000 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students and has more than 80 affiliate chapters through the United States.
